But then i think, do i really need to get married to do that...I can go pick up my neice and irritate her or just watch a movie..or something...anything so that time just passes off.

then, my career...which i didnt want in the first place; now i dont want to let it goooooooo, i want to travel and study some more and work in various fields...that wont be possible, right...

Well getting married is sunnah and there also a hadeeth that says something like, the ones that dont get married is not one of us. Dont know the exact words.


But marriage is not fard just sunnah. So it is really your choice if you dont want to get married but it is highly recommended that you.

Yeah everyone should must taste this shadi ka laddoo at least once in life time.

I did see another discussion on GS where is said if once you have been divorced is it still recommend to marry again. As in staying married as long as you are the marrying age. Dont know what the outcome of that discussion was though.

Mostly it just tastes pretty bad. But once in a while you start to see how good it can be. But that sad part is that even the good tasting ones dont always last.

I do not like Laddoos at first place... yuck. It should be called something else like Shadi ka Rasgulla or Shadi ka gulaab jaman. May be that will attract me even more towards it.

The last marriage I attended was my friend 's wedding in Nov 2008. Prior to that it was only my sisters wedding, one in 2006, other in 2004. i was the gal at home who would make maximum shor sharaba when any wedding invitation card would come to home. I always loved weddings toooooo much. The lighting, the decore, the band, the bride and not to forget the food. Now I dont feel that excited about wedding functions. Not even imgining my own. I feel like going to mosque, do nikah and next day waleema as thats sunnat or faraz. So I dont know if i have grown up or grown old ......

I have attended about 2 wedding in the past 3-4 years, mainly my friends who i could nto miss.

I just dont get why there should be soooo much shor-sharaba for a wedding, kitney paise waste .

You also shouldn't rush into a marriage that is a bad decision on the sheer basis that you're accomplishing Sunnah. There's a reason why there is flexibility in the matter, and if you look at the Quran's outlines and rec's on how to select a partner, the biggest emphasis really is marry not out of lust.

Right, so how many people DO NOT take good looks into account when they're choosing a spouse?

And how many people put way more emphasis on looks than they should thereby shooting themselves in the foot, only to realize afterwards after marriage that they married a monster.

And then the question is, if you made a retarded decision and married the wrong person, are you morally obligated to stick with them, or does Islam give you the right to discard them with a divorce?

Does Islam validate a person making bad marital choices and then resorting to easy quick divorces later to absolve their problem?

I talked to my Father about this once and I received the response "Its been difficult at times with your mother, but I would never have left her even when she was misbehaving with me and being disrespectful".

So is that the sign of a good muslim? You stick with someone even if they might once in a while hurt you?

Or are you justified Islamically in giving a divorce?

Anyway, this is all talk. What ends up happening is people make the choices they want and they move on with life and use every ounce of Islam to justify their choices, but God knows best. Who knows the answers to some of these questions, really.
